John N. Phillips
Family Law Attorney

"I practice family law because helping people and making a difference is so important to me."

Background

For years, John was a software engineer at some of the largest companies in the world. Too independent for corporate management, he went back to school to become a lawyer in 2015. After graduating from law school at the top of his class, he practiced in a variety of areas like buisiness and techonology and aviation. But corporate contracts and patents were not as fulfilling as helping people through difficult times.

Experience

In 2023, John joined one of the largest family law firms in Washington State. There, while working on hundreds of cases for dozens of attorneys, he learned the ins and outs of family law. But his indepencence and technology background made him realize that most lawyers were practicly clueless about technology. Most law firms seem stuck in the past, use outdated methods, and openly ridicule technology. John wanted to change that, so he founded Broadview Family Law in 2025.

Why technology matters

The divorce process is filled with financial figures, calculations, spreadsheets, and business interests. Most lawyers are literally terrified of numbers and technology. John's engineering background and experience in big business gives him the ability to confidently negotiate settlements and investigate complex assets. Running a mondern law firm allows John to fully leverage technology the other firms ignore. It's not about being faster, it's about quality control and accuracy. John treats every case as mission critical and demands exacting tolerances in every detail in every document.

Family matters

John enjoys working with his father, has two children, and has seen his own marriage end in divorce. He understands just how difficult this is. His personal expereince with parenting plans, negotiations, and mediation means your feelings and concerns will be validated and understood.
